Virustotal is an online service that can be used to analyze files for malware before downloading them. Copy a URL or download link and paste it into the text field and click Submit URL. Virustotal runs the URL analysis tool and displays the results. Click on the view downloaded file analysis to see the Antivirus Report. Alternatively it is possible to email suspicious files of upto 20MB in size to scan@virustotal.com with SCAN in the subject field and get results back in plain text or XML.
